Hip Hop the Rap Pop

As a white male rapidly approaching his fifties I’m might the last one who should write such an article as this. However, as a father of a couple of young people who do sometimes listen to this genre and a concerned citizen who thinks can be we are all wearing our emotions too close to the end of our sleeves; I wonder Assuming that the re is not one thing we can do better. The strange thing is I find Hip Hop somehow exhilarating and sometimes even find myself enjoying the music playing on my son’s car radio.

The rhythm is catching, the beat will inspire you to move, with words and music it feeds your soul.

These dynamic lyricists, who put out words, performance to exceptional music that denigrate women, vilify authority, and reinforce hopelessness; they make sexual pleasure impure, they are drunk on the misery and hopelessness of their generation.

prefer the men who stole their forgotten ancestors to sell them into slavery, they sell their personal individuals into the psychological slavery of hopelessness and despair. prefer the slave owners of the past, the buyers are there. Wouldn’t it be greatness, excellence and blessing if instead this dynamic, compelling and inspiring musical genre was used to further the dream of the greatness of King?

Wouldn’t it bring blessing Assuming that the buyers were as committed as Lincoln to freedom and liberty? Rise up you writers, gifted in music and words! Grasp the prize of greatness and like the excellent leaders before you, throw your fellow humans a rope of hope!

Hip Hop – Gangster Rap

It wasn’t too long ago that hip hop was created in the Bronx in the mid seventies. At its inception hip hop was virtually nothing more then a positive way to express your emotions on a platform that would be heard throughout the country and in some cases the entire world. Hip hop despite having an aggressive stigma was not feared as it was mostly viewed as a bunch of adolescents having fun and expressing themselves. If it weren’t for the music and the movement known as hip hop, an entire generations feeling and beliefs would have passed by in the absence of being heard. While hip hop for the most part was positive, enlightening and self empowering on the east coast there were a bunch of youths on the west coast who furthermore felt their struggles and views necessitated to be expressed.

Although the message that they were relaying on the west coast has been not one that has been positive at all it still fit the mold of hip hop in the sense that it has been still a form of self expression. The two pioneers of hip hop in the west coast were a rapper by the name of Ice-T and a group by the name of NWA! Their version of hip hop has been highly abrasive and vulgar yet they showed no remorse for it. The point they tried to prove has been that hip hop much prefer all other forms of art is ofttimes a reflection of the environment that the performer lives in. They claimed that if your father was not a part of your life and your mother has been hooked on drugs that your reality would undoubtedly be divergent then that of a person who came from a better environment.

What was once known as a peaceful movement had now became quite threatening to those in power. Politicians and police departments began to fight to have the music pulled off shelves and the performances of these controversial artist canceled. At this point in time in America, gang violence and police brutality were a major media concern. Hip hop artist began to establish violent music calling for the killing of cops and talked about shooting other’s who we’re not a part of their particular gang. Hip hop as all of us knew it had taken a drastic differ and to make matters worse the music that was so controversial on the west coast had now become the the majority popular form of hip hop. It would be titled “Gangsta Rap” due to the fact that those who performed it were either in a gang, affiliated with gangs or rapped about gangs.

Although a lot of of us aren’t fans of this aspect of hip hop it does not differ the fact that this music is here to stay. all of us have to face the fact that not only has been hip hop created to allow everyone to voice their opinions (no matter how crude or violent they may be ) but USA furthermore created freedom of speech for this exact reason. Whether you view gangster rap as detrimental or supplemental to the hip hop movement the fact is the record sales say it all.

Country Western Music?

This is a individual opinion and therefore, I don’t want any hate mail from Country Western listeners, which I know are fanatical and omnipresent. I do have my favorite s, from a chauvinistic man’s point of view. I think that Shania Twain and Faith Hill are sexy and I find pleasure in a few of their videos plus some of their songs. But is it because they’re large country western stars? No way. I have a problem listening to most of the Country Western stuff because it all is beginning to sound the same. I can’t tell a Randy Travis, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith or Alan Jackson song apart if my life depended on it.
I grew up on the Jersey shore and a lot of of you may, therefore, think I am unqualified to make such a judgment. But hold on. I have spent the last 30 years in Arizona. Does it get more country or western than that? You know, the home of Tombstone, Wyatt Earp, and where the ‘Little House on the Prairie’ has been filmed.
So I am a transplant with an attitude. Do not get me wrong, because I have given it a try. My late wife has been from West Virginia and, during her mid-life crisis, began playing Country Western music continuously for five years.  all of us  had all the CD ’s, radio stations on preset, and even watched the Country Western awards on television. I may recognize all the large names, the latest hits, and who has been new to the scene. Through it all, I really tried to find pleasure in the sound, for her sake. But, eventually, I wandered back to my classic rock and roll, jazz, or blues.
I performance the harmonica and keyboard and have oodles of sheet music. I have attempted to performance a few of the recent Country Western popular numbers, but to no avail. I have a few of the older Country Western classics that have crept into mainstream by Johnny Cash and Ernie Ford, but they are few and far amidst. The current songs have become a formula that’s fodder for Jeff Foxworthy and his ilk. According to individuals like him, it goes like this:
You start with a sad premise.  You’ve  lost your: (fill in the blank) i.e., girl, dog, select up truck. They were your 1st : love, companion, way of freedom. You recall their: smiles, wagging tail, leather seats. You wish you may, once again, feel their: hair, fur, gun rack. You really miss their: smell, smell, smell. You would do anything to get them back: tell her you love her, rub her cute little tummy, (or did I have those reversed?) hose her engine compartment. While you are waiting for them to return, you’ll have to: do your own laundry, fetch your own paper, walk to the liquor store. In other words, it is not a pretty sight.
So that’s my gripe with Country Western. They vary the harmony, the lyrics and the tempo, but the message is undeniable. I yearn for a total vary of pace where I may get my ‘Satisfaction’ or ‘Light My Fire.’ But I also have troubles with Hip-Hop, Rap, and Grunge. So, let’s say I have got issues and be done with it. And, to all you Country Western lovers out there, stick with your music and don’t let a basher like me vary your tune, pardoning the pun. And did I mention the two things I do like about Dolly Parton?
